Labor Day Weekend Worship Focus on Worker Justice
It is almost that special time of year when we bring workers and labor justice advocates into our faith communities to share words of personal story,
faith and ways to support and advocate for worker justice individually and in our communities. IWJSD joins IWJ national in Labor in the Pulpits,
on the Bimah and in the Minbar and invites you and your faith community to participate in this special time during Labor Day weekend (August 30-September 1, 2019).
There are many ways to participate, so chose which is most suitable for your congregation or contact Rev. Cheri Metier, IWJSD’s Executive Director,
to discuss various options or to tell her about your other way of faithfully bridging faith and labor.
Here are some ways your faith community is urged to participate:
-Include a time in your service to hear from a worker, labor leader or worker justice advocate. IWJSD is happy to send a someone to speak for a few minutes
or to bring a full sermon message.
-Plan your worship service around a theme of worker justice. Suggested liturgies are available.
-Provide a reflection on workers, justice and faith as a bulletin insert.
-Have a labor justice sing-a-long before, during or after service.
-Got an idea? SHARE IT! Want help? CONTACT IWJSD!
