The Sly Power of Women in the Hebrew Scriptures

October 3 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm PDT

Powerful Matriarchs:

The Sly Power of Women in the Hebrew Scriptures

The Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook

Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego

Thursday, October 3rd  In the Great Hall, 6:00 – 7:30 PM

Ancient Israel was a patriarchal culture, with the power of women hidden and suppressed. Yet the stories in scripture show how women exercised power to shape the Jewish and Christian understandings of God. We will explore the deeply personal stories of women of influence like Miriam, Sarah, and Rebekah, and consider questions of direct and indirect power and influence.
